Arlene says 'Strictly marks are ridiculous'

Arlene Phillips has slammed the scoring by the judges on this year's Strictly Come Dancing. The former panelist has said that the marks for the celebrity dancers have been "ridiculously high".

Viewers saw Alesha Dixon, Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman award Hollyoaks hunk Ricky Whittle 32 out of 40 for his debut week on the show.

Zoe Lucker and Laila Rouass both were awarded a score of 30 for their first dance routine in this year's competition.

Arlene told The Sun: "The marks are too high - ridiculously high.

"I've done an overall mark for everybody and theirs are nowhere near where mine are.

"I think Craig is the only one marking what he sees - and he gets booed."

Meanwhile, a recent report claimed that BBC bosses have been discussing a plan to bring Arlene back to the show.

Executives are to offer the 66-year-old a role as choreographer for the final shows, according to newspaper reports. A source claimed: "There's a massive buzz about the idea of bringing her back.

"We've always seen Arlene as part of the Strictly family and, knowing how popular she is among the show's fans, we have been looking at ways to bring her back in."
