Knee injury hampered rehearsals

Ex-EastEnder Gillian Taylforth, who made a shock exit from Strictly Come Dancing last night, had been carrying a secret knee injury.

Gillian, 53, had gone head to-head with model Jodie Kidd after coming bottom in the public vote.

The judges had given the least points to fellow actress Jessie Wallace.

But according to the Mirror, Gillian suffered a painful ligament injury in the early stages of training for the show.

A show insider said: "It is a real shame that Gillian has gone. She had a torn ligament in her knee but she didn't once use it to get sympathy. She was a real trouper."

Gillian, best known as EastEnder Kathy Beale, did the foxtrot to the Chicago show tune Razzle Dazzle on Saturday, with partner Anton du Beke.

But they only scored 22 out of 40 from the judges and Craig Revel Horwood blasted their performance as "rough around the edges".
