Broken toes for Andrew and Ola

Brave Andy Castle and his partner Ola Jordan danced through the pain barrier last night – after both broke their toes rehearsing.

GMTV star Andrew and Russian Ola, 26, tangoed on the show to T Rex’s 20th Century Boy. But what viewers didn’t know was that both were nursing matching foot injuries.

Andrew, 45, said: “I broke Ola’s toe as we were practising a lift. She went up for it – but I wasn’t there to catch her so she landed badly and broke it.

“Then a few days later we were trying another dance and my feet weren’t where they should have been. Ola stood on one and I heard a crack.”

Dancer Ola, married to fellow Strictly star James Jordan, said: “The problem is you can’t bandage up your toes or treat them. All you can do is dance through the pain and wait for them to heal naturally.”

But one bonus for Andrew is that their daily six-hour training sessions are doing his waistline lots of good. In six weeks he has lost a stone.
