What did the judges think of our contestants' first dances? Another series and another group of fearless celebrities - but who came out on top with our judges?

First up were cricketing legend DARREN GOUGH and his partner LILIA KOPYLOVA, dancing a Cha Cha Cha to Hot Stuff.

Len liked it: "I've always admired Darren's bowling - fast and exciting - and it was just like that." Bruno was almost in agreement: "The Rhino and the showgirl, but it was a very light-footed rhino!"

Judges' scores: Craig: 3 Arlene: 4 Len: 6 Bruno: 6 = 19

Next up, dancing the Waltz to In Other Words, were PATSY PALMER and ANTON DU BEKE.

Craig wasn't impressed: "I thought your balance and control were out throughout it. I think your footwork is appalling." "Nerves got to you - you were frozen all round the floor," agreed Arlene.

Judges' scores: Craig: 3 Arlene: 4 Len: 6 Bruno: 6 = 19

Athlete COLIN JACKSON and his partner ERIN BOAG danced a Cha Cha Cha to Save the Last Dance For Me. Len loved it: "You've cleared the first hurdle - it was fabulous." "Snake hips with razzmatazz and fancy footwork, what more could you want?" agreed Bruno.

Judges' scores: Craig: 8 Arlene: 8 Len: 8 Bruno: 8 = 32

My Family's SIOBHAN HAYES and partner MATTHEW CUTLER danced a Waltz to When the Girl in Your Arms. "[You're] a gorgeous couple, but when you start dancing, Siobhan, the top half of your body goes AWOL." "I thought it was quite a good performance," disagreed Len.

Judges' scores: Craig: 2 Arlene: 4 Len: 5 Bruno: 4 = 15

Fifth to take to the floor were chef JAMES MARTIN and partner CAMILLA DALLERUP. They Cha Cha Cha'd to Something Got Me Started, but did it get the judges going? "It was a very tasty appetiser for what's to come," thought Bruno. "Bit of a pudding from the waste down, but from the waste up... you had masses and masses of sex appeal," oozed Arlene.

Judges' scores: Craig: 4 Arlene: 5 Len: 6 Bruno: 7 = 22

GLORIA HUNNIFORD and DARREN BENNETT danced their Waltz to My Lady. "You didn't let yourself down or Darren down," said Len. "Gloria, you look liked you loved to dance," said Arlene. "I want to see you come back."

Judges' scores: Craig: 4 Arlene: 5 Len: 7 Bruno: 6 = 22

Next up was Casualty star WILL THORP and his partner HANNA HAARALA, dancing the Cha Cha Cha to Crazy Chick. "I think you were typecast as Woody," snipped Craig. "It was all Barbie and Ken," agreed Bruno.

Judges' scores: Craig: 3 Arlene: 3 Len: 7 Bruno: 5 = 18

Holby star JAYE JACOBS joined ANDREW CUERDEN to dance the Waltz to When I Need You. "I didn't really feel there was real synchronicity. Get together and act the part," advised Arlene.

Judges' scores: Craig: 6 Arlene: 5 Len: 7 Bruno: 7 = 25

BBC Breakfast presenter BILL TURNBULL and partner KAREN HARDY danced the Cha Cha Cha to Love Potion No.9. "I have some very good news for you; that was a very good spirited routine," said Bruno.

Judges' scores: Craig: 7 Arlene: 7 Len: 8 Bruno: 7 = 29

Rival breakfast show presenter FIONA PHILLIPS stepped on to the floor with partner BRENDAN COLE to dance the Waltz to Sam. "I don't think ballroom is your forte," said Len. "It was so awful, I don't want to say," agreed Arlene. "What was with the lift? Did you think we wouldn't see?"

Judges' scores: Craig: 2 Arlene: 2 Len: 4 Bruno: 3 = 11

Snooker legend DENNIS TAYLOR and IZABRELA HANNAH danced the Cha Cha Cha to Music. "I thought you were groovy and funky," said an impressed Craig. "You weren't precise enough," said Bruno.

Judges' scores: Craig: 5 Arlene: 5 Len: 5 Bruno: 5 = 20

Presenter ZOE BALL and IAN WAITE dance their Waltz to Take it to the Limit. 'That was absolutely great," gushed Len. "It was astounding," agreed Arlene. "That little beach donkey has turned into a gazelle!"

Judges' scores: Craig: 8 Arlene: 9 Len: 9 Bruno: 9 = 35

ZOE and IAN came tops with the judges, but what did you think at home? Here are those all-important numbers for you to vote for your favourite.
