Olympic gold-medalist Misty May-Treanor announced Monday night that she is leaving ABC's highest-rated show with a ruptured Achilles' tendon. But ABC won't reveal what her exit means until Tuesday's results show. At this point, Sapp and Brooke Burke loom as the two most formidable dancers. He astonishes with his versatility and ability to make it all look easy, even if he is 300 pounds. She scores the highest points with her elegance and consistency. They each performed waltzes Monday night. He is a showman who had judges raving. She wows everyone with her beauty and technique. Judge Len Goodman said her dance was the best of the season so far. But I think Sapp's showmanship will trump her excellence. He's the crowd-pleaser. As for everyone else ... Susan Lucci is too timid. Lance Bass is too risk-taking. Rocco DiSpirito is too ragged. Cody Linley is too wild. Toni Braxton and Maurice Greene have possibilities. His jive was his best dance yet, and judge Carrie Ann Inaba declared him a contender. Inaba also liked Braxton's rock-flavored Marie Antoinette waltz, but the other judges found it too gimmicky. And then there's Cloris ... Cloris Leachman, who got out on that floor, threw herself into a jive and lost her wig. The judges didn't like her technique. But she has juiced up the contest with her oddball humor and willingness to test herself at 82. I hope she stays in this show a long time, because she makes it far more interesting. Source
