Penny and Rod want a girl

Penny Lancaster has apparently said she and Rod Stewart are trying for a baby girl.

The rock star and the Strictly Come Dancing stunner - who married last year and have a two-year-old son Alistair - are keen to have more children together.

Penny told The Daily Mirror: "We are trying for another baby. Another little boy would be wonderful but I'd also love a little girl - one of each would be perfect.

"We wanted another but thought it best to hold out until after the wedding and Strictly Come Dancing. Now it's a case of 'wait and see'."

But the 37-year-old model said she and 63-year-old Rod wouldn't be using fertility treatment.

She said: "We're not even thinking about that yet."

Penny revealed their parenting skills are quite different. She said: "I'm strict but Rod's very laid-back. So Alastair goes out with Dad and gets all muddy and has the chance to be a real boy. He breaks the rules with Rod and gets more practical advice from me, which, I believe, helps make him feel secure. It's a good mix."

Penny and Rod live in Los Angeles with three of Rod's six children from previous relationships.

Penny said: "The best way to get with step-kids it to be yourself. Kids can sense if someone isn't genuine. I jump from being mother figure to a friend. I think if you're loving and caring, and make their dad happy, there shouldn't be any problems."
