So we have our 25 finalists. And the Latvian pirates have made it.
And while Tuesday's semi may have seen similar novelty acts such as Estonia and Ireland cast aside, voters in the second semi-final seemed to take the weird and the wonderful to their hearts.
In an evening of shocks Latvia's Pirates of the Sea were joined by Croatia's 75-year-old rapper, a Danish BritPopper, Turkish rockers and a sightless Georgian among the ten countries sailing through to Saturday's final.
But does the blame lie with the UK public, who voted for the first time tonight? Who knows.
Among the more conventional performers who qualified were Ukrainian Shady Lady Ani Lorak, Portugal's big belter Vania Fernandes and Sweden's former Eurovision winner Charlotte Perrelli.
But, in another decidedly eastern European flavoured result, the much-fancied Malta and Switzerland were nowhere to be seen.
