Len & Bruno manage football teams

A celebrity soccer match held at David Beckham's LA Galaxy ground has marked the end of this year's Britweek in Los Angeles.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman's played manager to a UK celebrity team against fellow judge Bruno Tonioli's 'rest of the world' showbiz side - but the Brits weren't to be beaten.

Despite a shaky start film and television stars Julian Sands, Michael Sheen and Sean Maguire somehow managed to pull off a miraculous 5-3 win.

Len joked on the sidelines that he was prepared to use some shady tactics to win: "I'm gonna go over and bung the linesman a few quid."

Clutching a glass of white wine on the pitch, Bruno confessed he didn't know too much about football: "We watch our lovely David [Beckham] don't we? I'm not somebody who actually goes to games, I watch the big events but this is to support a good cause."

Speaking after the match, actor Michael Sheen admitted the game had proved quite painful: "I was dead after the first five minutes to be honest. The brain is willing but the legs are very, very weak. At one point I was looking at the ball and trying to run, and the top half of my body was really trying to go for it but my legs just wouldn't do it and I fell over."

Sean Maguire said he was feeling equally worse for wear: "I'm really kind of close to collapse!"
