Superstitious Eurovision fans rolled their eyes and crossed themselves when news broke that the United Kingdom's Andy Abraham had drawn the dreaded number two slot in the grand final on Saturday, 24 May.
You see, in the contest's 53-year history no performer going on second has ever gone on to win the contest. And over the years the UK has made rather a habit of occupying that second spot, with mixed results - remember Javine in 2005?
But Andy doesn't seem too worried about it all.
"I've been told that going on second is the poisoned chalice, yeah," he told us when we caught up with him in break from rehearsals last week.
"But I think hoodoos are there to be broken," he said. "Where there's a spell there's a spell that can be undone."
In fact the plucky ex-X Factor said he was rather relishing getting out of the traps early on final night.
"If I'm honest, I'm looking forward to going out second. Then I'll be able to relax and take it easy. I can watch everyone else panic about going on later."
And does he have a game plan, something perhaps to while away the hours after he's performed? You betcha.
"I'll give laxatives to all the others before they go on," he joked.
