Karina Smirnoff a Poor Sport

In Tuesday night's Dancing with the Stars results show, Mario and his partner Karina Smirnoff were shown the door, despite having outscored both Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska, and Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani.

Mario took the news with grace and class, but Karina Smirnoff made little attempt to hide her contempt for the situation, grimacing and rolling her eyes throughout the final few minutes of Tuesday night's broadcast.

Karina is certainly making headlines lately. We reported earlier that she is FHM's 78th sexiest woman of 2008, that she and her third season partner Mario Lopez were broken up, and then not broken up. To top it off, she also took a public pot shot at Shannon Elizabeth for faking a romance with Derek Hough just to get votes in an In Touch interview. She's got a lot to say, that's for sure.

There's no doubt that Karina Smirnoff is an incredible ballroom dancer. She is a world champion dancer with many titles under her belt. On Dancing with the Stars, she brought her current boyfriend Mario Lopez all the way to the finals, but they were ultimately defeated by NFL running back Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke. But does she have to be such a sourpuss?

In last night's results show, which was also the 100th episode of Dancing with the Stars as Tom Bergeron repeatedly reminded us, she hardly had a smile on her face. It was more the contrary, in fact. After the first two couples – Marissa and Tony, and Kristi and Mark – were announced safe, the camera panned over the rest of the couples and caught Karina rolling her eyes. You'd think she'd realize that her frowns were being broadcast to millions of viewers on national television, but I guess not. She probably figured at that point that Mario's and her fates were sealed if Marissa, the weakest dancer in the lineup, was continuing on to next week.

The thing that differentiates Dancing with the Stars from trashier reality shows is the camaraderie of the cast. Everyone seems so genuinely likeable, rooting for each other and hanging out backstage. Mario had a good run and probably deserved to go farther, but I'm glad that we won't have to see any more of Karina's scowls on stage.
