Contact Lens mishap for Suzanne
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 08 May 2008
BURY beauty Suzanne Shaw was dancing on thin ice when her partner accidentally knocked out her contact lens on the live tour of the ITV celebrity skating show.

Former Hear'Say star Suzanne revealed that at her last performance on the Dancing On Ice tour, which hit Manchester last night, she had to skate almost blind after a collision with her ice partner Matt Evers.

"It's so unpredictable being out on the ice," she said.

"At the last show Matt accidentally punched me in the face, and my contact lens fell out. I could see that it was stuck to my cheek, but I couldn't do anything about it. And I had to perform a spin straight after, through blurry eyes, but thankfully I got through it."

Despite the odd mishap, Suzanne couldn't be happier with her ice dance experience. She won the hit ITV show with her dazzling performances with ice partner Matt.

Winning has made her hot property on the showbiz circuit - with a raft of offers lined up.

Suzanne said: "I'm on cloud nine. It's been phenomenal since winning the show. The diary isn't free until January next year now.

"Straight after the Dancing On Ice tour I go into rehearsals for Chicago in the West End, and that has always been one of my dream jobs. I'm just so, so grateful to be in this position, I feel very lucky."

But even when the show is over she plans to keep up the ice skating. She says: "Ice skating was one of those things I wanted to take up as a hobby when I was a kid, but my parents said I could only do so many hobbies because we just didn't have the money for everything. So now that I've got these skills I want it keep it up. It's great fun and it's great for toning up."

And she's loving being back in Manchester. "It makes it so much more relaxing and special that I'm back home in Manchester. I can see my family and friends and I'm back to a town where I actually know where all the good shops are!"

Dancing On Ice is at the M.E.N. Arena until Sunday. For tickets call 08700 112626. £32.50 - £45.
