Pete talks about a typical training week

Each week the girls take part in an intensive training regime to prepare themselves for the show. For those Nancys lucky enough to be saved for another week, training begins with routining.

This involves the girls heading back to Television Centre, where they sing their new songs for the first time. They also spend time back at the house being interviewed by the film team. This gives us the chance to interview the girls about their performance, the results, how the show went for them and what the week ahead might bring. Their interviews make up part of the film you see of each girl before they perform on each week.

The rest of the week is spent at the training venue practicing their solo and group numbers. Each of the girls spends time with Claire the vocal coach, Donna the acting and performance coach and Kevan the choreographer. The crew are also on hand at training, filming the girls as they practice and picking up interviews with them throughout the week. Everyone arrives well ahead of the girls each day in order to set up lights, cameras and Nancy banners.

On certain days of the week, the Oliver boys descend on the training venue too – it's not all fun and games though. As well as being able to pick a pocket or two, modern day Olivers need to do their school work and the boys have a special tutor who comes in to take their classes.

The film team spends the week working in shifts – this way we can make sure all things Nancy are captured on film. I was on the early shift all last week so went straight to the Nancy house each morning. From there, having been filming with the girls, I headed off with them to where ever they were going, be it to training, their mission or to rehearsals at the BBC. Then there's a late team who travel back to the house at the end of the day and spend the evening filming with the girls. We're not always following the Nancys around with a camera though. A lot of the time we're off to all corners of the UK and Ireland filming and interviewing the girl's families and friends.

Last week the film team and I shot a series of video diaries with Francesca who was saved by Andrew in the first week. This time it's Keisha's turn to chart her progress throughout the week and you can see the clips soon, exclusively on the website.

As well as all their training, the girls have to squeeze in time to take part in their mission, learn their lyrics and have their dress fittings, all before arriving at Television Centre for a full day rehearsing on set. And we're there every step of the way to capture it on film! But before we know it, it's Saturday again and that can mean only one thing – show time!
