The curse of Strictly Come Dancing has struck again: 2006 winner, former England cricketer Mark Ramprakash, has split from his wife Vandana after 16 years of marriage.
The couple, who have two daughters aged five and 10, had been battling to save their marriage over the Christmas period but have now reportedly decided to go their separate ways.
During his turn on Strictly Come Dancing, Ramprakash (pictured) admitted to a two-year affair with a single mother. Friends of the couple say that his infidelity placed an 'intolerable' strain on their relationship. Vandana, 37, is said to be living in the couple's home in north London, while Ramprakash has moved out.
The cricketer, who waltzed his way to the 2006 title with dance partner Karen Harvey, is the latest celebrity whose life has been sent spinning after appearing on the show. Last week it emerged that the 2007 runner-up, Eastenders star Matt Di Angelo, was now seeing his dance partner Flavia Cacace, 27, after luring her away from live-in lover, Vincent Simone. The 2004 winner Natasha Kaplinsky split from her boyfriend and her dance partner, Brendan Cole, was dumped by his fiancée after rumours of an affair, which they denied.
While Ramprakash's appearance on the show has not helped his home life, it has not damaged his cricketing career. The 38-year-old has been tipped for a surprise recall to the England side after two impressive seasons for his county team Surrey.
