Gethin misses Strictly final

Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones has been voted off Strictly Come Dancing following this weekend's semi-final.

The 29-year-old was backed by only one judge after finishing in the bottom two, leaving Alesha Dixon and Matt Di Angelo to contest next week's final.

Jones, who had been tipped to win the BBC1 show outright, and his dance partner Camilla Dallerup were forced into a dance-off with Di Angelo and Flavia Cacace after R&B singer Dixon got the most public votes.

Arlene Phillips was the only judge to back the TV presenter's waltz, with EastEnder Di Angelo being given the thumbs up by Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman.

Speaking after the result was announced tonight, Jones said he had enjoyed his "incredible adventure".

"My friends never expected me to get past week two," he added.

Dixon and her partner Matthew Cutler are now favourites to win the Strictly crown next week after the ex-Mis-Teeq singer notched up her 14th ten rating.

In next Saturday's final both contestants will be required to take to the dance floor five times.
