Kelly Brook quits Strictly
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 01 December 2007
Heartbroken Kelly Brook has given up her brave bid to continue in Strictly Come Dancing after her dad's death.

Star Kelly had vowed to perform in his memory tonight but realises she is just too upset.

Ex-scaffolder, Ken, 57, lost his battle against throat cancer on Monday. Kelly had rehearsed with partner Brendan Cole all week and learned the cha-cha and foxtrot.

But by yesterday the 28-year-old, who regularly wowed the judges, decided performing as she struggled to contain her grief would be too much. Her mum Sandra Parsons explained: "She did her best to continue - it's what her father would have wanted.

"But now she just can't carry on. Her emotions are all over the place."

Last night she was being comforted by her fiance Billy Zane at their 15th century mansion near Maidstone, Kent.

The BBC said: "Kelly will be sorely missed by everyone on the show."

Meanwhile, the Mirror can reveal smitten Gethin Jones asked dance partner Camilla Dallerup to spend Christmas with his family.

But the 32-year-old wants to go to her folks in Denmark, leaving Blue Peter host Gethin, 28, gutted.
