Len Goodman is known to millions of people as the Head Judge of Strictly Come Dancing and he is also the Head Judge on the USA version – Dancing With The Stars.
His vast knowledge of Ballroom and Latin American Dancing, which he has gained over a lifetime of competing, judging and teaching all over the world, has made him one of the most popular judges both in the UK and USA.
Len started his dancing career relatively quite late in life compared with other Championship dancers. It wasn’t until the age of 21 that he started dancing and within eight years he became a champion, which is a huge achievement in such a short space of time. Having retired after a successful competitive dancing career, which included winning Dual of the Giants , British Rising Stars, The British Exhibition Championships (four times) and the World Exhibition Championships all in the early 1970’s, it was a natural progression for him to start up his own dance school when he was 28 years of age. ‘I always had aspirations to run my own dance school, to be able to bring joy and happiness to many people - it is just so rewarding.’
Len is an examiner for the National Association of Teachers of Dance, a Fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance and also a Member of the International Dance Teachers Association. He is also an Adjudicator for the World Dance Council, British Dance Council, Ballroom Dancers’ Federation International and also a founder member of the International Dancesport Judges and Trainers Association.
Len has made numerous T V and radio appearances including; BBC Breakfast, G.M.T.V. Lorraine Kelly Show, Celebrity Weakest Link which he won, The Wright Stuff, Ready Steady Cook, Would I Lie to You, What Are You Like, Radio Two – Steve Wright in the afternoon and lots of other local radio stations up and down the country.
