The first Eurovision Dance Contestis now over, Finland has won and they deserve warm congratulations now.

But what happened last night in the scoreboard. Let's see the voting process step by step, country by country in the view of oikotimes.com.

Austriamight have given 10 pts to its neighbour Germany but gave 12 points to Finland. Denmark might have given 5 points to Sweden and 10 points to Finland but still the 12 points went to Ireland. Finland might have given 4 points to Denmark and 8 points to Sweden but gave 10 points to Russia and 12 points to Ukraine. Germany voted its neighbours by 10 points to Austria and 12 points to Poland. The Greek communities seems not to have worked hard and therefore the country got only 5 points from Germany. Greece gave 12 points to the Netherlands as there was no Cyprus in the contest. Greece wouldn't have done much better than going up 2-3 places if Cyprus was in the contest and got the island's 12 points.

Ireland gave 7 points to United Kingdom but the 12 points went to Lithuania. Lithuania gave only 6 points to Mother Russia, 10 to neighbour Finland and 12 points to Ukraine (not weird things here). Netherlands voted Ukraine with 10 points and Finland with the maximum 12 points. Polish votes went to Ireland and Ukraine. Portugal might have given 10 points to Finland but the 12 points went to sister Spain. It was about time this to happen again. On the other hand Portugal received points from countries usually (in JESC and ESC) not waiting for. Russia of course voted with 12 points the brother nation of Ukraine but still Ireland managed to get 10 points. Spain gave 10 points to Finland and 12 points to its sister country Portugal. Some say it's a natural thing as it was with Greece and Cyprus.

Sweden gave 8 points to Denmark and 12 points to 'their neighbours' as they said on TV, Finland. Poor Switzerland finished with null points as neighbour Austria and Germany didn't bother to vote for them. Swiss votes gave 10 points to neighbour Germany but gave a surprise 12 points to Portugal. Ukraine used the usual voting method and gave 12 points to mama Russia. United Kingdom once again plunged in the scoreboard. The host county ranked 15th and gave 8 points back to neighbour Ireland but the 12 points went to Ukraine.

What do we see out of this voting? There are no clear indications that diaspora or neighbour voting applied. Maybe because it was the first edition and people didn't organize well, some say. Another impressive thing is that Switzerland which opened the contest in the order of appearance ranked last. The voting result brought JESC 2006 in our minds. Using the same method of voting (open lines as the show begins) also Russia (which was last in the performance) got the prize. Besides Sweden, all countries drawn 9-16 ended up in the top 10. What if Greece has used televoting, would have been any changes? Well in senior ESC 2006 don't forget that Greece gave 12 points to Finland. Seems it was a fair scoreboard, now in terms of taste of course some like the winner and some not. Ukraine managed to get another 2nd place in an Eurovision event. There is a feeling that the draw matters more and more despite the voting beginning at the opening of the show or in the last moments.

That's it folks. Like it or not, Finland won. They might not have the chance to host the 2008 Eurovision Dance Contest as London has signed a contract with the EBU for two years of organizing this event but the 2008 edition will be definitely exciting. More countries will be added, larger venue will be used and the winner will host the 2009 edition. For a fast organized show, BBC didn't do bad but still it could have been better.
