THE champagne corks were popping in Longford this week as teenage dance sensation Daniel Uppal made it through to the final of television show DanceX.
Nineteen-year-old Daniel was cheered on at the live show in London by family including mum Kim, dad Surjit and sister Chantelle.
And although his team, coached by Arlene Philips, lost the public vote for the second week running, Daniel was the first boy chosen by his mentor to be saved from elimination.
In the elimination 'dance-off' it was teammate Kalvin who was sent home.
But the team are now raring to go in Saturday night's final.
If they win, Arlene wants to turn them into a modern day version of seventies group Hot Gossip.
Daniel's mum Kim told The Observer every week in the studio was getting more nerve-wracking, but added: "We are so proud of him for getting this far, and he is a winner in our eyes already."
The family are heading down to London tomorrow night to make sure everyone is ready to go for the final.
But Kim said the contestants were feeling the strain of the constant rehearsals.
"The enthusiasm in all of them is so visible and they have all worked so hard for nine weeks," Kim said.
She also thanked people in the city for backing Daniel.
"We are really grateful for all for the support from Coventry," she said.
Coventry people can help Daniel go all the way by voting for Team Arlene again this week. The show is on BBC One at 8.30pm on Saturday.
