PUB-GOERS in Rochdale got the surprise of their lives when the star-studded cast of skating show Dancing On Ice dropped in on Sunday night.
Celebrities-turned-ice-dancers including rugby player Kyran Bracken, actor Stefan Booth, pop stars Lisa Scott-Lee and Duncan James all piled in to The Windmill on Manchester Road after their evening performance at the M.E.N. Arena.
But they must have made something of a detour to drop in - as they told punters they were on their way to Nottingham when they decided to stop in Rochdale.
Their presence delighted Janice Thomson and her daughter Jade, 11, who had been at the show that night.
The pair, from Milnrow, had only decided to stop at the pub at the last minute to see Janice's sister-in-law, Angela Kelly, who owns The Windmill - and they were pretty glad they did.
Janice says: "It was a brilliant show and afterwards we thought we'd stop off quickly to see my sister-in-law.
"But the next thing we knew, all the stars from the show were piling in to the pub.
"Jade asked if she could have her photo taken with them, and they were all really good. Duncan James even helped us to get our camera working.
"They could have gone to any pub in Manchester, so we were so shocked when they turned up in Rochdale."
I hear that the stars bought a load of drinks to take back with them on their tour bus - and a pile of pork scratchings, too - before they headed off to Nottingham, for the next date on their arena tour.
