The Sound Of Music star Connie Fisher is to have her weekly performances cut from eight to six on doctor's orders, it has been confirmed. The remaining two performances will be played by Aoife Mulholland - who was a runner-up to Fisher in the BBC1 talent contest How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? Fisher returned this week after a fortnight's absence to rest her damaged vocal cords. When she won the role of singing nun Maria in Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit West End production, she vowed to carry the whole show herself. But a spokesman for the production said: "On her doctor's instructions, Connie will now be playing six shows each week. "From the week commencing March 26, she will not play the Monday evening or Wednesday matinee performances of The Sound Of Music." Mulholland, 28, from Galway, Ireland, lost out in the semi-finals of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? She went on to land a role in rival West End musical Chicago. She will continue to appear in Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre until March 31 and will join The Sound Of Music on April 9. Lloyd Webber said: "I am thrilled that Connie has returned to the show, fit and well, and welcome Aoife, who gave a sensational audition." Source |
