Your host, Tess Daly answers your questions.
We asked you to send in your questions for the queen of Strictly Come Dancing, Tess Daly and we put a selection to her, Here she talks about working with her favourite, Bruce, fabulous frocks and fantastic footwork, and whether she yearns to get up and dance. Graham asks: Why do you think this series has been such a huge hit? It's due in part because the standard of dancing is so high. Not to dismiss the celebrities from other series, but the standard this series is higher than has ever been seen on the show and it's closer than ever before. Vicky asks: What's your favourite dance of those featured in the series and why? I think probably the dance where Mark and Karen got the microphone caught and had to start again – the Samba – because it was so celebratory once they did it a second time. They were so happy to have the chance to perform it again. Mark in particular, it's his favourite dance of the series so far and he was desperate to do it. To see them triumph over adversity was brilliant. Sophie asks: Which of the professional dance couples do enjoy watching the most? I'm very fond of our new couples, Vincent and Flavia and Ola and James Jordan - it was a shame we had to lose Flavia so early on because of Jimmy not being so well. Vincent is a great character for the series. Ola and James Jordan are great new additions to the show. He's fiery and she's drop dead gorgeous. They're a winning combination. Cassie asks: Over the series, who has been your favourite celebrity dancer? I'm not allowed to have favourites! The funny thing for me is that it changes from week to week, not because I'm flaky but because people's standards keep changing. I love the fact that Matt Dawson's completely changed his character and his dancing. Mark Ramprakash I love watching because he looks so masculine and predatory on the dance floor. It sends shivers down my spine. Emma, I love watching in the Latin... They've all got reasons to love them, that's why it's so gripping. It's so close. It's anyone's game at this stage that's why it's must-see TV because no one knows which way it's going to go. It's totally unpredictable. Rob asks: Over the previous three series have you had a favourite celebrity? I thoroughly enjoyed Darren Gough last series as we just saw him change from being a chunky cricketer, one of the boys, to being completely light on his feet and loving every minute, and that was just great to watch and be a part of. Chris Parker, from EastEnders, I absolutely loved, because he couldn't dance. He was such a sweetheart and he captured the public's imagination; they kept voting for him to keep him in. I'll never forget his Paso Doble with Hannah when he used a cape, pretending to be a bull. It was just hysterical. So many moments, so many great dancers. Paul asks: What's it like working with Bruce? It's incredible because he's a legend who I've grown up with watching on the telly and I feel really lucky to work alongside him. He's such a giggle, we have such a laugh together. Bruce is a joy and I consider him a friend. Eleanor asks: How would you describe Bruce in five words? Warm, wonderful, witty, wacky and kind. Louise asks: Would you like to take part yourself? Actually, I'm getting increasingly up for it. Every week I beg Anton Du Beke to twirl me around at the end of the show. I go ţplease Anton, can I have a go?' and he always dips my head with one leg in the air. It's great fun and it always makes me desperate to learn more. Louise asks: How do you think you would cope with the judges' comments? I think I'd probably crumble under the criticism. Tim asks: Do you have any say about the fabulous frocks you wear? Do you get to keep any of them? There's a stylist who works on the show and we decide between us. She shows me a selection of gorgeous dresses, I try them on and we decide which one looks the best and feels comfortable because if you're wearing it for hours and you've got to move around a lot you don't want something that's going to constrict you. No, I don't get to keep anything ever - like Cinderella, it all goes back. Julie asks: What music gets you up dancing? Everything gets me up dancing. I love my music and I love the band and the live singers, they do an amazing job. I'm always dancing behind the scenes. I have such diverse tastes in music. I love all those old happy house songs that make you want to throw your arms in the air, like Candi Staton's You've Got the Love. Source |
