Eurovision battle begins
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 18 February 2006
Two former chart toppers are battling for the chance to sing their hearts out at this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Anthony Costa of boyband Blue and Kym Marsh from Pop Stars group Hear'Say will both be vying for our votes to represent the UK in the contest.

Kym will be trying to impress us with the ballad Whisper My Name while Anthony is going for the Motown-style tune Beautiful Thing.

Competing against the two former pop, or should we say, flopstars are singer-songwriter Goran Kay, male vocal group Four Story and girl duo City Chic.

Daz Simpson will also be in the running.

Daz who? Well, he was in the dance act Uniting Nations who had a hit single in 2004 with Out Of Time, of course!

Terry Wogan and Natasha Kaplinsky will be hosting the show Making Your Mind Up which last year saw Javine Hylton pip glamour girl Jordan, singing under real name Katie Price, to win the judges' and viewers' votes.

In their prime Blue were a hugely successful group who grabbed three British number one singles, and Hear'Say had one of the fastest-selling singles of all time with Pure And Simple.

The winner of the UK competition will be jetting out to Athens on May 20 in hope of bringing the country to glory, no doubt hoping not to hear the dreaded 'nil points'.
