She's the bubbly Leeds lass who waltzed her way into the nation's hearts en route to victory in TV's Strictly Dance Fever.
Now 20-year-old Sadie Flower is preparing to win over a whole new audience – this time at one of London's most famous theatres. Sadie will be strutting her stuff at the Hackney Empire next month in a show called Burn The Floor: Extreme Ballroom. The chance to take her place in the production – described as "sweaty, spectacular and breathtakingly sexy" – was part of her Strictly Dance Fever prize. Excited And although Sadie admits the pressure will be on at the Empire, she's hopeful the experience will be less stressful than her run to the final of the smash-hit BBC1 programme earlier this year. She told the YEP: "With a bit of luck I'll be more excited than nervous. "There was such a lot riding on the competition that it wasn't always easy to enjoy yourself. "This won't be all plain sailing, though. There's an audience to entertain – after all, they've paid for those seats!" Sadie, from Methley, will be treading the boards in London alongside Joseph Hall, her partner from Strictly Dance Fever. The pair are due to treat theatregoers to some of their trademark routines from the programme, including the lindyhop, salsa and jive. Artistic director Jason Gilkison believes they will be a "wonderful addition" to the show, which aims to combine the glamour of the ballroom with the raw thrills of rock 'n' roll. Team He said: "They're a fabulous team – we're delighted to have them with us." Sadie has hardly had time to catch her breath since her thrilling telly triumph in June, which earned her and Joseph a cool £50,000. Her busy schedule has included a string of dance workshops in schools and sports centres but she has also just managed to cram in a spot of well-deserved rest and relaxation in Majorca. The next major date in the dancing queen's calendar after the Empire is an appearance at a charity ball in London in November, when the guest list is expected to feature a string of top showbiz stars. l Burn The Floor: Extreme Ballroom begins a four-night run at the Hackney Empire on October Source |
