Grease is obviously the one that you want! Voted by television viewers as the world’s greatest musical, this touring version has the singalong music, but no major star names, apart from Pop Idol finalist, Hayley Evetts, who made her professional debut as Sandy at the Palace in 2003.
Paul Manuel plays Danny and Kristy Cullen, from Strictly Dance Fever, gets her first break, albeit in the chorus, from choreographer Arlene Phillips.
Incredibly, the original stage version opened in America more than 30 years ago and the popular film launched John Travolta’s career, while the first West End show starred an unknown Richard Gere.
Undoubtedly, this glossy slice of teenage life in fifties’ America maintains a nostalgia value all its own which bridges the generations.
If the full house and the enthusiasm of the cast are anything to go by, Grease is still the word.
