This page has general information about the new show airing in New Zealand, which has been taken from the official website... Starts Sunday May 1 at 8:30pm Are today's celebrities fleet of foot or do they have two left feet? That's the question host Jason Gunn and co-host Candy Lane will be finding the answer to when they host the New Zealand version of the hit variety show Dancing With The Stars. The Kiwi celebrities are all household names, famous for their roles as actors, sporting greats, politicians, comedians and models. They may be high achievers in their chosen field but do they have the toe tapping rhythm that separates the groovers from the losers? Watch as Nicky Watson, Georgina Beyer, Theresa Healey, Bernice Mene, Shane Cortese, Norm Hewitt, Tim Shadbolt and Ewen Gilmour pair up with New Zealand's slickest professional dancers in the exciting new series Dancing With The Stars - a live ballroom dancing competition where each week one couple will be voted off by the public and a panel of celebrity judges. The stars have six weeks in rehearsal as they learn how to waltz, tango, rumba and jive. Admire the skill, style - and patience - of the professional dancers as they train our novices. You'll be surprised who's light on their feet, and who has two left feet. Prepare for tears, blisters and plenty of sequins! From week two of the series, the dance partnerships face a public and studio vote, with the lowest scoring team being eliminated from the series. In addition to our four studio judges - Paul Mercurio, Brendan Cole, Alison Leonard and Donna Dawson, viewers are able to vote for who they believe has put in the performance of the night. Public voting is done by either phone call or text. Each contestant will have a phone number suffix and text name. Viewers must vote for their favourite contestant. Then the judges scores and public votes will be tallied and the lowest scored contestant will be eliminated. This process follows for each episode. A percentage of the money from voting will be donated to the celebrity's charity of choice. By the final week, only two dance partnerships will remain as they compete to win the coveted title of Dancing With The Stars champions. Source |
