Review by Hannah Cannings of Jill Halfpenny in Chicago (5th March 2005)
I went to see Jill Halfpenny in Chicago on March 5th and I thought it was
brilliant. I had been wanting to go and see her in Chicago the moment I knew she
was going to be in it. I thought she was an amazing dancer in Strictly Come
Dancing and I LOVE Eastenders. I had been accepted at a college to do Performing
Arts two days before I went to see it, and the day after I sent the slip off
saying that I wanted to attend. She really inspired me to do what I want to do.
My other inspiration is Laurie Brett as she has done theatre and TV just like
Jill. I think her voice is amazing and has improved tremendously since I saw her
sing on the first Eastenders Christmas Party. I was sooooo excited to go and see
the show and I sat four rows back from the front so I could see everything. The
songs were amazing and I agree with Livi that when Jill did the ragdoll, that it
was the best part. Micheal French was an amazing Billy Flynn as he had soo much
confidence, and I thought his run in the show was going to end just before I
went, but it was extended and that was an added bonus! I also liked it when Jill
sang me and my baby! It was a bit weird to see her flirting so much with all the
men ( cause that's what her character likes to do!) but it was extremely funny! I
was smiling all the way through and I really want to see it again. The only
warning I would give is that your cheeks really hurt at the end cause you smile
so much. it is definitely worth going to see and I would pay to see it again. I
really didn't want it to end and when it did I was really sad. So I would like
to say thanks to Jill for being such a cool and funny Roxie Hart and for making
that day one of the best day's of my life!
